The Confraternity of Christian Mothers at St. Francis is one of many chapters of a greater organization that exists to be a support to Catholic women in the spiritual education of their children. The "local" groups are under the umbrella of the Archconfraternity which, for St. Francis, is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Other confraternities have formed in many parishes across the nation as well.
For the past many years, our group has taken on the care of the sacristy and sanctuary, purchasing necessary items for each area. In addition, the other main focus is to provide the funeral lunches for St. Francis parishioners at the time of a death in their family.
Christian Mothers also provides "scholarship" money for youth from the parish to assist in attendance at activities designed for spiritual enrichment.
Members of this group gather one Sunday a month to pray for the spiritual needs of its members and for all the families in the parish and are encouraged to pray each day for their children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
