"The sexual abuse of young people is by every standard wrong and rightly considered a crime by society; it is also an appalling sin in the eyes of God.” (Pope John Paul II, Address to the Cardinals of the United States, April 23, 2002)
St. Francis de Sales and the Diocese of Crookston are committed to creating a safe environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults. All clergy and employees will be Safe Environment Certified and all volunteers who have contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults will be Safe Environment Certified. Safe Environment Certification includes a background check every five years; completion every year of an Acknowledgment and Consent Form (for background checks); and certification training and testing on an annual basis.
Also, our children and youth will have annual Safe Environment education incorporated into their regular Religious Formation classes.
Please call Dennis Ouderkirk (233-4780), Safe Environment Coordinator, with questions about the Safe Environment certification process.
If you are unable to use the online process, please call Dennis Ouderkirk in the parish office, who can make arrangements for you to take the training and the test.
